It’s Sunday FUNDAY! Time for drinks!
I am not by any means what some would call a “drinker” but I know I really feel like I need a drink sometimes. So, being an ex bartender, I thought it would be fun to share a few of my favorite drink recipes.
Original Sex on the Beach:
This drink calls for 1 ounce Vodka, 1 ounce Peach Schnapps, 3 ounces cranberry juice, and 3 ounces orange juice.
Fill a glass with ice and pour in ingredients. Pretty simple right?
Sex on the Beach with Rum
Fill a glass with ice, add 1.5 ounces Coconut rum, 5 ounces of Pineapple Juice, add a splash of Cranberry Juice and viola! Yummy!
Fill a glass with ice, add 1.5 ounces tequila, and 6 ounces of Orange Juice. Top with a splash of Grenadine and garnish with a cherry or two.
Oatmeal Cookie Drink
This is one of my absolute faves! It is so good and actually tastes like a freshly baked oatmeal cookie!
Fill a shaker with ice, add 1.5 ounces of Irish Cream and .5 ounces Cinnamon Schnapps. Top with 4 ounces of half and half and shake. Serve over ice.
There is also a shot version. Fill shaker with ice, add 1 ounce Irish Cream, .25 ounces Cinnamon Schnapps, and a splash of half and half. Shake and pour into a shot glass.
Long Island Iced Tea
I honestly was never really fond of this drink, but it seems to be really popular, so I thought I’d add it.
In a shaker add .5 ounces of each rum, vodka, tequila, triple sec, and gin. Top with sour mix. Shake and pour over ice. Top with a splash of coke. I usually served this in a beer glass or mug.
Start this drink by coating the rim of your glass with salt. You can do this by rubbing a lime along the edge or dipping it in water and dipping it into the salt.
Fill the glass with ice and add 1 ounce of Tequila, .5 ounces of Triple Sec, and top with sour mix. Garnish with a lemon and lime.
Honestly one of the most simple drinks to make, but they had to give it a name because it’s made with a more premium vodka. Haha.
Coat the rim of your glass with salt and add ice. Add 1.5 ounces Grey Goose Vodka and top with Grapefruit Juice.
Another of the super easy to make drinks is the Screwdriver.
Fill your glass with ice, add 1.5 ounces Vodka and top with orange juice.
I credit this drink to one of my favorite patrons. Miss Carla Browne. Super simple and she always like hers light. Simple to make and tastes just like a Cherry Pepsi.
Simply add 1 ounce Cherry Vodka and a can of Pepsi to a glass filled with ice.
Another of my favorites.
In a shaker filled with ice add 1.5 ounces Coconut rum, 1 ounce Melon Liquor, 5 ounces Pineapple Juice, and .5 ounces of half and half. Shake and pour over ice.
To make this a shot: .75 ounces Coconut Rum, .5 ounces Melon liquor, .25 ounces Pineapple Juice, and a splash of Half and Half in a shaker with ice. Shake and pour in a shot glass.
Slippery Nipple Shot
Fill shot glass 3/4 full with Butterscotch Schnapps and top with Irish Cream. This is a layered shot. To do this requires a little skill. Equip the Irish Cream with a pourer spout. Tip the shot glass so the Schnapps is almost to the rim, but not quite. Holding the bottle sideways place the tip of pourer onto the edge of the glass touching the Schnapps. Slowly lift the bottle until the Irish Cream starts pouring. Continue to pour slowly as you turn the shot glass upright until full. Don’t feel like a failure if you don’t get it on your first try. It took me a few days of doing it repetitively to master it and I still messed it up at times.
My Favorite Drink: The Lunchbox
This is a beer based drink, but it has a sweet note.
Fill a 16 ounce beer glass with 10 ounces of beer (I like bud light for this) Add 3 ounces of Orange Juice and 1.5 ounces Amaretto Liquor. Drink up!
